ERDism beta

New look, easier canvas moves, docs in your language

NewImprovedFixed
  • A new front page. The landing page is redesigned, with a clearer walk-through of what ERDism does and a quicker way into the live demo.
  • A new ERDism logo. The app, the browser tab icon, and link previews use the new mark. A beta label sits next to the name while the public beta runs.
  • See who is online. The member chips at the top of the workspace home now show only the people who are signed in right now, and change as they come and go. Click them to see every member, split into Online and Offline.
  • Imported diagrams arrive arranged. Right after an import, tables are laid out the same way as Arrange by group. If the diagram already has tables, only the new ones are arranged, placed together near where you clicked — the tables you placed stay where they are.
  • The public docs in Korean and Japanese. About, How it works, these release notes, and the legal pages can now be read in Korean and Japanese, and every docs link in the app opens the version in your display language. The Japanese legal pages are reference translations; the English version prevails.
  • Japanese is no longer marked Beta. In the language picker, Japanese now stands alongside English and Korean.
  • Updated Terms of Service, Refund Policy, and Privacy Policy. The new versions spell out how payments, refunds, and connected databases are handled. The Privacy Policy also lists the new cookie that remembers the language you chose.
  • Move around the canvas with a mouse or the keyboard. Hold Space and drag, or drag with the middle mouse button, to move the view — even over a table, which stays where it is. Ctrl/Cmd + scroll zooms, Shift+1 fits the whole diagram on screen, Shift+0 goes back to 100%, and Ctrl/Cmd + = or Ctrl/Cmd + - zooms in or out. Scrolling and trackpad gestures work as before.
  • The docs open in your language. The public docs open in the language you chose in ERDism, or in your browser's language if you haven't chosen one, and a language menu sits at the top of every docs page. On the front page, the language buttons in the footer are now a single menu.
  • A page for each release. These release notes now give each release its own page, with a list of all releases by month and a feed you can subscribe to.
  • Your first click in the demo makes a table. In the live demo, picking the Table tool and clicking the canvas could draw a selection box instead of a table, especially on a first visit. Adding tables, columns, foreign keys, indexes, and groups — including from the SQL tab — works in the demo again.
  • The demo keeps your view. If you moved or zoomed the diagram while the demo was getting ready to edit, it no longer jumps back to the starting view a moment later.
  • Arrange by group stays put. Pressing it again no longer shifts the whole layout a little further each time.
  • No more overlapping tables after a move into a group. A table whose header is wider than its columns — a long name, wide letters such as m and W, or a group label — could end up on top of its neighbor when tables were moved into a group's area. Its width is now measured correctly.
